Welcome.
I am so glad you are here! This is the home of Lia Hiltz' art and of Tiergarten-Süd: A comics discovery.

Lia Barsotti Hiltz is a comic artist based in Ottawa, Canada. She is a Visual Arts graduate of the Etobicoke School of the Arts (Toronto) and holds a B.A. Hons in English Literature (McGill University) and a Masters in English Literature and Creative Writing (University of Windsor). Lia eventually figured out how to write and do art at the same time after discovering graphic novels. Recent work includes a comic memoir about miscarriage (in Driftwood Press Magazine) and a chronicle of rapidly changing Berlin, called Tiergarten-Sued-Comics.
Lia is partway through a full-length fictional graphic novel called "The Engineeress," about fertility, child loss and resilience, which was excerpted in AntiLang Magazine. It is not as bleak as it sounds - life takes Olivia and Rupert in some unconventional directions, but when people have their hearts in the right place, things have a way of working out. Her blog Pictures from the Bus (https://liahiltz.blogspot.com) has been featured in several news outlet. Lia is a published writer (including The New Quarterly, Wayzgoose, bout de papier, Pillar). Lia gratefully acknowledges the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, the Bezirkskulturfonds and Department of Arts and Culture of the City of Berlin-Mitte, and the Berlin-Tiergarten-Süd Stadtteilkasse. |
